Columbia Blood Agar (CA) is intended for the isolation, quantitation, and partial identification of a variety of microorganisms, including fastidious organisms from clinical specimens. This media is prepared, stored, and dispensed under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.CA is suitable for use in antibiotic differential disk examination and spot biochemical testing. CA is an enriched non-selective media. It is supplemented with vitamin K1 and hemin to facilitate the recovery of fastidious anaerobic bacteria. Sheep blood is added for the observation of hemolytic reactions as seen by the double zone -hemolysis of Clostridium perfringens, and for growth factors required by some fastidious microorganisms.

Also known as TSA or Trypticase Soy Agar, Tryptic Soy Agar is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. This medium can be used for a wide variety of purposes including maintenance of stock cultures, plate counts and microorganism isolation of a range of specimens. It is also used for testing bacterial contaminants in cosmetics. The addition of blood can be used for the visualization of hemolytic reactions produced by various bacterial species. The addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and/or Lecithin, is used for environmental monitoring as they inactivate disinfectant residue. Whether you need a general-purpose, nonselective media or you need added blood to facilitate a more fasitdious bacterial lawn for the detection of hemolytic reactions, we have several products to choose from. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.

MOLTOX FT tests measure the ability of test material treatments to induce reversion of histidine-requiring Salmonella typhimurium strains or Escherichia coli tryptophan auxotrophs to their respective prototrophic conditions. The bacterial strains used in these assays are identical to those in conventional plate incorporation assays, described by Mortlemans & Zeiger, Mutat. Res. 455: 29, 2000 & Mortlemans & Riccio, Mutat. Res. 455: 61, 2000. The experimental design used in the MOLTOX FT tests is based on Gatehouses's adaption of the design reported by Luria & Delbruck, Mutat. Res. 53: 289, 1978 and Genetics, 28:491, 1943. The MOLTOX FT "471" Mutagenicity Assay kit contain the products required to perform a microtiter fluctuation test using Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537 & an E. coli WP2 uvrA strain. This kit includes sufficient components for 1 test material in triplicate analysis of 6 concentrations, positive and negative controls, with & without S9.
